Is Technology Diluting the Thrill of Driving?

Recently, car makers have been coming out with new technologies to make cars safer. these technologies are very nice yet, they take away a lot of the driving experience. Car companies can keep those technologies on SUVs, trucks, crossovers and any tall, heavy and big cars. Yet, whenever I drive my old Saab, I always get interupted by the safety features that take away the fun. The way to be a better driver is to make mistakes. With modern day technologies we never get to that point but it is necessary to know both the limits of the car and your abilities. For better or worse technology will always be there and we can do nothing about it. for a video about this topic type in this link

The only reason for these "safety features" is to make people want to buy the car because nothing else draws them to it.  If people think that it makes the car less fun, which i also believe, then don't drive that car.  Get one that is fun.  Plenty of companies make cars that have more fun features than safety features.

Absolutly, why even buy a sports car with an auto. Sports cars to me are supposed to be "Driver" oriented, not oriented to the "common" buyer. That's the problem with most sports cars today, they are geared to the common man who does not have the skill of making a car do amazing things like Schumacher could in a F1 car. For example, you can buy a ferrari with 5 traction control settings, and 5 transmission settings for the flappy paddle gear box. They are fantastic, you can tune the car to certain settings making the owner look like he knows what he is doing even if he has meat hands. you also can turn of the TC and putt the gearbox in the most ferocious setting if you feel brave but it lacks a connection of man and machine that a old vintage sports car does with a manual gearbox, and no traction control. Sometimes even, that can help the driver avoid being in accidents because it makes you focus more on driving the car because they are more occupied about being in control of the car at all times then worrying about there facebook status. I reckon that if more people drove manual cars, there would be less accidents because people would be more focused on driving then anything else.

Do you liken this to automatic shifting in a sports car?
